Yes, we're looking for staff. To be more specific, we're looking for news editors and writers. If either of those sound like you, we'd like to hear from you.
With a couple of months of ByteSized Gaming under our belt, we're going on a hunt for new, enthusiastic people who'd like to have the chance to write for an up and coming gaming site. Unfortunately, being completely non-profit and ad-free means we can't pay you anything (at least in money - Sim will provide sexual favours), but you will get the opportunity to help us make ByteSized Gaming one of the best handheld gaming destinations on the internet. So what's required? It's actually fairly simple...
News Editor
As a news editor, your job is to keep the front page of the site updated with the latest portable gaming news. If that sounds daunting, don't worry, as our current staff can give you plenty of help with actually finding the stuff. All you need to do is check these locations regularly and post up anything interesting using our easy-to-use, form-driven site admin script.
Interested? Well, if you are, you'll need to send us a couple of examples of your work. Simply pick any recent gaming news story and write a short article on it (not *too* short) and then do the same thing again. If you're enthusiastic and you can write, you're pretty much qualified.
Send your application in to jskiexl AT bytesizedgaming DOT com. (Replacing the 'AT' with '@', the 'DOT' with '.' and removing the spaces, of course.)
Writer
The workload of a writer consists of producing original content for the website. You'll be required to write previews of upcoming games, interesting articles about handheld gaming as a whole and, of course, reviews. Note that for most reviews you will need to buy the games with your own money, but we don't force anyone to review anything they don't want to, so there should be zero damage to your wallet provided you actually play games in the first place, which we're sure you do.
To apply to be a writer, similarly send an application to jskiexl AT bytesizedgaming DOT com. Instead of news articles, though, provide an example of a game review you've written, in a style not too far removed from those already on the site. That's it. Nice and simple. It'll be a big bonus if you own a PSP, too, as we could do with some more PSP coverage.
And if anyone reading this doesn't think they'd quite fit as a news editor or a writer, but might be able to help us out in some other way, we'd like to hear from you too. And that's all for now.
